The Swiss economy continues on a robust growth path. The domestic economy in particular is in excellent shape: the good mood of companies and the upturn on the labour market are leading to a significant increase in investment in equipment and increasing consumer spending. BAK forecasts strong economic growth of 2.3 per cent for 2018 as a whole. However, the peak of the upswing has now been reached. Swiss GDP growth is expected to slow to 1.5 percent in 2019. This is mainly due to the weaker international environment. The euro zone in particular is already clearly losing momentum. Increased uncertainty about political developments in Italy and global trade conflicts are also hampering growth.
